Review Olympus Pen E-PL5- read once to take better decision!
Olympus Pen Series is quite in from a number of years. It is manufacturing this half frame camera series from about 1960′s. The latest camera introduced by Olympus, Olympus Pen E-PL5 has caught the eyes of people in very less duration of time. Olympus introduced the PEN E-P1 in 2002 and from then it has released a number of different models in this series.
Taking about the size of camera, it is smaller in size as compared to the Olympus PEN but it has a bigger built as compared to the PEN mini E-PM2. However the built is handy and comes with a number of interchangeable grips that adds on to the experience of taking pictures. The grip of this camera is better than another model previously launched.
Image quality is excellent; it can be compared with the quality of Olympus OM-D. As Olympus OM-D has been a master piece for photographers, and now they can have the same quality in lower price that is why this camera is going to hit the market. Olympus E-PL5 has shown even better results as were predicted.
A lot of features are same as were present in Olympus E-PL3 e.g. the tilting screen. This feature was not touch sensitive in E-PL3 but now in Olympus -PL5 it has resistive touch screen and this advancement in technology is proving beneficial. PEN mini E-PM2 also had a touch screen but that was a fixed one and has no option to tilt. Olympus E-PL5 has come with the combined technology of E-PL3 and mini E-PM2. So now, taking self pictures has become easy and more fun! Just tilt the screen and start taking the pictures. You can even take advantage from the self timer of this camera which allows you to take ten shots with different intervals of time.
Comparing Olympus E-PL5 with canon EOS 650 D + canon EFS 18-55 mm, has revealed that there are several reasons which leads to Olympus. One of the main reasons is the size of camera. Olympus E-PL5 is lighter in weight and smaller in size than this canon model and has more mega pixels as are offered in canon’s this model. Also, Canon model has more lenses to support auto focus. Olympus E-PL5 has no flash. Flash is useful in low light areas and a camera with flash is definitely superior.
Comparing Pen E-PL5 with Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 shows that, pen E-PL5 is smaller and lighter in this case as well. E=PL5 is faster as compared to Panasonic lumix as it is offering 8 fps and Panasonic lumix DMC is offering just 5 fps. Frame per second are very useful in shooting action shots and therefore PEN E-PL5 wins here. However screen resolution is better in Panasonic model. Battery power is also a very important factor when you talk about the reliability of cameras. Pen E-PL% has almost 5% less battery backup. And again, Panasonic DMC has flash as compared to the Olympus PEN E-PL5. The importance of flash can never be ignored.
